From Overconfident to Proactive: Why Mobile App Security is Primed for a Cultural Shift

New Enterprise Strategy Group research shows that organizations faced an average of nine mobile app security incidents last year, with an associated cost of nearly $7 million per incident. Despite these problems, 93% of organizations consider their existing mobile app protections to be sufficient. This disconnect between reality and perception suggests pervasive overconfidence in the mobile app security posture of most organizations.

This report presents detailed findings from an independent study conducted by Enterprise Strategy Group, based on a survey of global decision makers in mobile application development, cybersecurity, and IT.

Other top-level insights include:

  • 74% of respondents indicate that their mobile app dev teams are under increased pressure to accelerate velocity
  • And 71% say that this speed pressure has compromised mobile app security
  • Existing defenses aren’t sufficient–with nearly 40% of organizations relying solely on OS-level protections or DIY security solutions
