Out of our offices in Leuven (Belgium), Munich (Germany), and Boston (USA), we’ve had the privilege of developing and supporting a suite of mobile app security solutions for businesses across industries, ranging from financial services to e-commerce, gaming and media.

    Beginning with our open-source mobile app shrinker, ProGuard, Guardsquare has remained dedicated to providing a much-needed service for the mobile app industry — security. Today, mobile app security has grown more sophisticated, but so have the security threats; that’s why Guardsquare is advancing cutting-edge work in mobile app security.

    Eric Lafortune introduces DexGuard to meet the increasing demand for mobile application protection. DexGuard quickly establishes itself as the product of choice for securing Android applications.

    Heidi Rakels and Eric Lafortune found Guardsquare to create a stable environment for the improvement of the existing software and the development of new products. The company starts to grow immediately.

    Guardsquare adds ThreatCast — our mobile app security console for real-time threat monitoring — to our product line. As 2020 progresses, Guardsquare acquires Breakpoint’s Mobile Application Security Testing (MAST) engine, App-Ray. Guardsquare adds support for mobile games built on Unity with leading-edge security features.

    Roel Caers, CEO, sets the strategic direction for Guardsquare ensuring the company expands its leadership position in mobile application security. He is a member of Guardsquare’s board of directors and has more than twenty-five years of experience in the IT industry; fifteen of which he spent in various leadership positions.

    CTO

    Sander Bogaert leads the technical teams at Guardsquare. He ensures engineering efforts are aligned with the company’s technical vision and helps determine the roadmap for existing and new products. Sander joined Guardsquare very early on and built iXGuard from scratch after some initial months working on DexGuard.

    Erica Sheehan leads marketing strategy and is responsible for driving revenue growth for Guardsquare. A results-oriented global marketer, Erica has held leadership roles at several high-tech organizations including ObserveIT, Akamai, Oracle, and Endeca.

    Tim Dehaes leads the Finance operations at Guardsquare. In this role, he is responsible for setting strategic financial goals and strengthening the finance organization to support the growth of the company. Since starting his career at Deloitte, Tim has held roles with increasing responsibilities at DHL, Materialise Dental and Aliaxis.

    Ryan leads the product team at Guardsquare. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing the product vision and strategy. Prior to joining Guardsquare, Ryan held product management leadership roles at several developer-focused technology companies, including Veracode, SmartBear and PTC.

    Dharmesh Thakker

    General Partner, Battery Ventures

    Dharmesh is a general partner at Battery Ventures, where he focuses on investments in cloud infrastructure, big data, security and next-generation enterprise application companies. Prior, Dharmesh was a managing director at Intel Capital, where he led the firm’s global cloud and big-data practice. Before that, Dharmesh spent almost a decade in product management and go-to-market roles with enterprise-software companies, including Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), Manhattan Associates (Nasdaq: MANH) and two other startups. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Dharmesh also holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

    René Bonvanie has more than 30 years of executive management and marketing experience in enterprise technology. Most recently, René served as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of strategic accounts at Palo Alto Networks. He has also held marketing leadership roles at several high-tech companies, including Serena Software, SAP, Veritas and Oracle Corporation. He serves on the boards of Acronis, Armis, Collibra and Guardsquare.

    Seasoned entrepreneur Jurgen Ingels has ample experience in the technology world: he founded Clear2Pay (now FIS), co-founded NG DATA, SmartFin Capital and Eggsplore and is an active board member of various leading tech companies.

    Principal, Battery Ventures

    Dillon, a principal at Battery, focuses on growth and later-stage software investments, including growth-equity deals, buyouts, rollups and take-privates. Prior to joining Battery, Dillon was an investment banking analyst in Barclays’ technology group. There, he worked on a variety of M&A transactions, debt and equity financings and strategic-advisory assignments. Dillon holds a BS in business administration with a concentration in finance and accounting from Boston University.

    Felix Van de Maele

    Co-founder, CEO, Collibra

    Felix has led Collibra for more than ten years of record growth and is responsible for global business strategy. Prior to co-founding Collibra, he served as a researcher at the Semantics Technology and Applications Research Laboratory (STARLab) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, where he focused on ontology-focused crawlers for the semantic web and semantic data integration. He holds a master’s in computer science and software engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a master's in general management from the Vlerick Business School. In 2019, Felix was named the EY Technology Entrepreneur of the Year in New York.
